What is Base?
Base is a Layer 2 (or L2) network offering a secure, low-cost, developer-friendly way to build decentralized apps or “dapps” onchain that’s built on OP Stack.
The goal of Base is to serve as both a home for Coinbase’s on-chain products and an open ecosystem where anyone can build.
Base is not a closed proprietary Coinbase product. It is decentralized, open source, and for everyone to build on and use!

When will it be available?
Coinbase is launching the testnet of Base on 2/23. This will also include:

- Developer documentation
The targeted mainnet launch of Base is estimated in Q2 but we recommend staying connected to Base’s Twitter and Discord for additional updates!
